Name: Norfin
Nickname: Bear **just use this name**
Meaning: The name Bear is a perpetual reminder of deeds long past...
Age: Four years
Pack: --
Rank: --
Mate: Sol, "My sun. My world." -- Deceased
Appearance:
If a traveler were to be wandering aimlessly through the untouched wilderness of the Boundary Waters between the United States and the Canadian providences then perhaps they would catch a fleeting glance of the well known creature, Canis Lupus. If, then, they were worthy enough to see the vision of respect that the Native American’s named the Wolf, they might realize they were staring down a rather large specimen. Not that the whole of the genus Canis Lupus is as large as the one this certain traveler is viewing at the moment. No, this wolf is simply bulky; he stands tall at nearly thirty inches at his shoulders, and weighs just below one hundred pounds. His pelt varies between hues of cream, caramel, and coffee, all throughout his fur. This mixture of earthy tones becomes matted around the shining and knotty pink scar that snakes down the flesh of his left fore-leg. In fact there is a ring of ordinary skin surrounding the hardened flesh where the fur just will not return. Most striking to this weary traveler and maybe they would try to convince themselves that they were just parched and going insane from lack of human company, is the molten gold eyes that gaze curiously back. An almost alien intelligence resides in these eyes, and the care that burns in them could not be matched by the most loving of mothers.
Personality: Bear is humble and affectionate; none of god’s creations get under Bear’s skin, for he understands that owning a concise temper just won’t do in a world where retaining respect earns one respect in return. This vast quantity of patience is ideal for entertaining youth or for remaining calm during intimidating negotiations. Bear is hesitant to battle merely because he is partial to envisioning that there is a non-violent way of existence. If the situation deems itself non-negotiable Bear uses his immense stature to his advantage in combat.
History:
On the day of Bear’s birth his fate was pre determined. On sight, he was destined to be of service to the pack by way of Hunter, possibly Beta if he set his presumably lacking mind to it. And to none’s surprise Bear did all that was commanded of him, but what was never anticipated was that he would be at the disposal of his peers as well as his elders.
Throughout his adolescent years Bear gained acquaintances and allies by way of doing their simple chores equally rationed throughout the pack. Along with endless toil Bear was constantly taking the blame for small errors in the ways of others, hence gaining more respect.
The ebb and flow of time began to take its toll on the current owners of the title alpha. When their duration on planet Earth concluded, the pack so no better fit for the title than Bear. He passed on his position as Lead Hunter to another worthy creature.
None opposed the idea of Bear as Alpha because throughout their time as pack mates there was a sure occurrence at on point or another where Bear had been of aid to each and every member of the pack. To lead by his side Bear took Sol, a lifelong friend, as his mate. Bear, with his placid and laidback temperament, had no problem managing a devoted and satisfied group of wolves. His only need was for constant respect; pressuring his pack to remain within their border lines for he had no desire to gain any enemies with the surrounding broods.
What our aspiring alpha could never have anticipated was how his pack was disturbing the remainder of the feral creatures. If one were to question Bear about his confrontation with fate he would plead his own guilt; that they were bringing in more than their allotment of quarry and space.
A rogue bear ravaged our brute’s pack that night. Bear could do nothing but return the struggle. In fighting scores of his unsurpassed hunters and fighters were injured. None but one perished that night. The ones that weren’t wounded deserted Bear, saying the conditions were too dangerous and he was too kind.
Now with depleted numbers and Sol laden with pups, Bear knew he could do naught but sit positioned with his back facing the den and shield his love and unborn pups day and night. Soon infection set in on faith and wound and when the meager remainder of guard was counted Bear knew he was at victory’s end.
When the rogue returned to finish what he had began the Alpha knew he wouldn’t be triumphant; not without the aid of a full pack’s guard.
So with his remaining strength he set out for allies to the west. Upon returning Bear found carnage. Cadavers of loved and loyal lay spoiling in the bright morn. Unabridged guilt laced the now alone brute’s mind. Spider web cracks formed throughout his mentality, sending him walking along a thin line. He blamed himself for fleeing in his pack’s most dire need. Unable to endure the grisly scene laid out before him Bear began to dig, burying all past life and memory. Then he fled, unconsciously running from a pain that had settled deep within his own heart, unable to escape the torment of grief and guilt. But through travels and stern command Bear was able to bring about a new outlook on life, and through that, lay to rest his old ghosts. The guilt that still resides in him is kept in check, and the brute remains in control.
